Hi there and welcome! My name is Melissa Peabody. I own and operate Homegrown Doodles. I am married with two grown boys. My husband, Steve likes to lend me a hand here and there when he has time from his job as a sales manager at a local manufactured homes company. Together, we live in beautiful rural New Brunswick, just outside the town of Woodstock. We have loads of acreage for our dogs to run and explore. We decided to get into breeding Goldendoodles shortly after losing our beloved full breed Golden Retriever, Emma at 12 years old. She was the most amazing family dog! Our boys grew up along side her. Once she left us, we knew we had to have another dog in our home but after 12 years of daily vacuuming and still having hair everywhere, we decided we'd try the Golden Retriever/ Standard Poodle hybrid and we found our first F1 Goldendoodle boy, Scout. We fell in love again and the hole that sweet Emma left was once again filled. He was the cutest little apricot pup! He looked like a little Muppet and we were often told as much. We were incredibly impressed with this hybrid. Scout has a beautiful combination of the loyal, loving, gentle, endearing nature of the Golden paired with the high intelligence, low/no shedding coat of the Poodle and he has a goofy personality to boot. It was then that my husband and I decided we needed to share this incredible family dog with everyone! We found our Ellie girl after Scout was almost a year. After some genetic testing, and waiting until maturity, we started breeding and haven't looked back. This small little business fills me with such pride and joy. Every litter is special and every puppy unique. I look forward to each whelp like it's Christmas morning and every puppy is a precious gift I get to share. I am grateful and blessed to have such a vital role in these puppies first 8 weeks.
My breeding dogs are all genetically tested through Embark, Paw Print or Animal Genetics. We also do OFA or Pennhip testing on all our Moms and Dads. We only breed healthy parents with beautiful temperments. Our dogs are kept up to date on check-ups, vaccines and de-worming. We promise to only breed the healthiest dogs possible.
Goldendoodles are most definitely family dogs!! These guys are best described as Velcro dogs. Wherever you are, that's where they want to be.They love their families and want to be with and included in family activities. They like to walk, swim and play fetch but they equally like to keep your feet or preferably your lap warm while you're relaxing.

Homegrown puppies are whelped and raised in our home with our family. I follow an amazing empowered puppy curriculum called "Badass Breeders" or "BAB." This wonderful program produces stimulated, well rounded puppies that are ready to adapt to your family. We do early neurological stimulation(ENS) & early scent introduction(ESI) from day 3-16. This training helps puppies to use their noses, it also helps with heart rates, promotes healthy adrenal glands, and helps with confidence, just to name a few. Puppies are handled daily, they get exposed to baths, blowdrying, brushing and weekly nail trims. We also work on desensitizing the pups to loud noises such as vacuums, thunder, fireworks, sirens, different styles of music, T.V, etc. Pups are provided with tactile items to walk on with different types of textures, this builds confidence. They are also mentally stimulated daily with brain games and a variety of toys that move and make noise. We are looking to build well rounded puppies that believe in their own abilities by providing them with an enriching environment that falls within their sensitive developmental benchmarks.
